It's Only Natural

This yoga mat is handmade of all-natural cotton in India according to traditional methods. It’s hard to imagine turning cotton thread into a woven yoga mat without using electronic machinery, but that’s how Yogasana mats are made. Each is woven on a manual loom by a master weaver who signs the final product. All the dyes used to color the threads are natural; the dyed cotton dries in the sun, and the residual dye water is used to irrigate fruit and vegetable fields that surround the manufacturing facility. The idea of a cotton mat for yoga is not new, but dates back to the origin of the practice.

Yogasana founder Kevin Aylward has been making cotton rugs in India for 15 years, and his foray into yoga mats continues his focus on sustainable manufacturing processes. The hand-loomed yoga rugs are exceptionally durable and easy to clean (by hand or machine), and they absorb sweat without getting slippery. We recommend pairing a Yogasana mat with the Grip-It rubber underlay, which keeps the mat from shifting. For us, the natural materials and traditional manufacturing techniques are the perfect complement to our favorite yoga classes.
