Winter Warmers
At home in the Himalayas, people know how to do warm. Marion Surette and Sanjay Ranjit work with artisans in Nepal to create chic headwear styles that perfectly blend function and warmth. After Sanjay’s mother sent him a box of traditional Nepalese hats that everyone loved, they tweaked their designs a bit, adding elements such as the faux fur trim and some fashion elements and
Yak Apparel was born in 2008.Yak Apparel uses wool for its hats, in keeping with Napalese tradition, but these days most of it comes from sheep in New Zealand rather than yaks in the Himalayas. The bright, bold colors of the region are beautifully represented, and the tassels, pom-poms, ear flaps and faux fur trim add some fun that you don’t get with typical winter headwear. Best of all, they’re really warm. Yak hats are handmade from 100% wool, and they’re fully lined, so you can enjoy all the warmth of wool without feeling itchy. When winter hits full force, a Yak hat will keep you covered without sacrificing style.
