Writing on the Walls

Surrounded by blank walls in a rental apartment, Sunho Choi and Kelly Kim were inspired to create functional artwork that wouldn’t damage the walls and could easily be removed. The husband-and-wife team tapped their architecture and graphic design skills and devised a series of calendars that are applied as decals, directly to the wall.

Simple Shapes calendars add graphic punch to any room, and they serve an important purpose: keeping your office and household organized. You can write all your tasks and appointments on the decals, which are made from black chalkboard vinyl. When a new month begins, simply wipe away the old entries and start fresh with a clean slate.

Sunho and Kelly’s aesthetic is streamlined and modern, with a touch of whimsy. Their Daily Dot calendar, for example, comes with five charming bird decals that you can perch alongside the days of the month. Each calendar is made to order and includes a chalk ink pen, which works like a paint pen but looks like chalk. You can write more precisely with a chalk ink pen, plus there’s no messy chalk dust to clean. If you’re ready to get more organized, the writing is on the wall!
