Mike Morneault has held a lot of titles, having served in the military, gone to law school, and worked with a range of startups. Now the lawyer-turned-entrepreneur is sporting a new title: Chief Gladiator. His mission? To rid the planet of stinky gym bags.

Thanks to their four active kids, Mike and his wife have dealt with plenty of smelly sports equipment bags and poorly performing deodorizers over the years. So Mike set out to invent a better solution. After 18 months of planning and product development, he unleashed the Odor Gladiator onto the sports scene.

Designed to resemble a helmet and mask, the Odor Gladiator is a two-piece plastic case that houses a disposable Fresh Linen Shield. The Shield contains a water-based gel that absorbs odor and emits a nontoxic fresh linen scent. Simply load a Shield into the Odor Gladiator case, toss it into a hockey, lacrosse, soccer or gym bag, and it will fight odors for 45 days or more before the Shield needs replacing.

What makes Odor Gladiator different from a lot of other would-be remedies is that it doesn’t try to mask bad odors. Instead, it changes the chemical composition and weight of the molecules that make up bad smells. By changing the makeup of the bad-smelling molecules, they’re not detected as a scent, Mike explains. Changing the weight of the molecules reduces their concentration in the vapor phase. It’s all about the chemistry, Mike says. To our noses, Odor Gladiator is fighting the good fight!
