Healthy Hydration

There are scores of sports drinks and powders on the market, each designed to help professional and recreational athletes stay hydrated. But this one is different. Nuun, pronounced “noon,” infuses your water with electrolytes, not calories. It’s the creation of triathlete Tim Moxey, who used to water down his sport drinks for training because he didn't like the taste or the sugars. Tim wanted a lighter hydration option, so he created his own portable sports drink mix.

There’s no sugar in Nuun, no corn syrup, and no artificial colors or flavors. Each tablet contains four essential electrolytes -- sodium, potassium, magnesium and calcium -- and is less than 8 calories. When you drop a tablet into 16 ounces of water, it fizzes to dissolve, and in two minutes you’ve got a refreshing drink that tastes great and has the electrolytes you need to hydrate and refuel during your favorite active endeavors. You can use your own water bottle, which cuts down on throwaway plastic bottles.

Since Nuun’s humble beginnings in Tim’s garage, a team of competitive cyclists, skiers, rock climbers, runners and triathletes have helped refine the company’s traditional sports drink tabs (in a range of fruit flavors) and its U natural hydration drink tabs (for anytime hydration; available in goji berry green tea, tangerine ginger and cucumber mint flavors).
