The Gorillapod lets you place your camera just about anywhere, so you'll never miss that perfect shot.
Talk about this Grommet
Jesse, I know what you mean. My four year old grandson plays with our gorillapod like a "gumby" before and after its use for the family photo. Other (older) family members have been known to take a turn at playing with it too...

These are fabulous! I bought one for my teenage son to go along with his Flip video camera and his digital camera. The Gorillapod works fantastic for both of them and it allows him to have either camera wherever he needs them to be. They have other brands that are in this style, but they do not work as well as the Gorillapod.

Because those legs are SO flexible, Is it all difficult to get the camera perfectly straight?

I have used my neighbors Gorillapod at high school football games. I just go to the front of the bleachers and connect it to the fence. Perfect, "no shake" shots of the game.

Anne -- I've used this for a few months now and I was surprised at how steady this keeps the camera. I had the same question as you but it hasn't been an issue. (And I am absolutely not a pro at this.)

I have never tried Gorillapod but it looks like something I would like to try for my picture taking.

This flexible tripod will definitely help you get the shots you are going for. Thanks for stopping by!

I've never owned a Gorillapod before, but I've seen Gorillapod displays at two different retail stores, and both of them were broken. You'd think that the store managers would have the sense to put new ones out!
Also, when I tried one out on one of the tree branch displays provided, I couldn't really get it to hold in the position that I wanted - it was very awkward. The legs were too short to wrap around the branches in a secure way while still providing space for the camera. I can imagine that it might work on an obvious place such as a fence railing, but I'm not so sure that it really has the versatility that it claims. Seems gimmicky to me. Why don't the people in your video demonstrate it instead of just describe it and flex the legs in their hands?
Is this supposed to be an infomercial or an objective review? It seems like the former to me.

Tony, thank you for your comments. We do carefully select the products that we feature at Daily Grommet so that we can stand behind them. We use the Gorillapod in the Daily Grommet offices and have not had any breakage.
This was an earlier video review when most were done in-studio. We have recently done a review of the Gorillatorch - a flexible, magnetic flashlight that leaves your hands free. It uses the same patented ball-and-socket construction for flexible, wrappable legs. You can see in this review how the legs wrap around objects.
Again, thanks for stopping by!

Tony, I work the Gorillapod extensively at Daily Grommet and haven’t broken one yet. I've attached it to doorknobs, handles, lighting, fences, tree branches, stool backs and more. I once wrapped the legs between a partially opened window lever to keep the sun behind me while shooting field video in my bathroom for the Daily Grommet story about Colormark. I'm willing to lend you one of ours to try. Your skepticism would provide and interesting platform for testing and honest feedback. Contact me if you're interested!

We'd like to congratulate Joby for having their Gorillapod listed as one of the top gift items as ranked by the New York Times' Frugal Traveler who wants to avoid giving — or receiving — "anything that, while momentarily amusing, fails to provide a useful function, or on the other hand is functional but charmless. And, needless to say, it shouldn’t be expensive." The Gorillapod fit the bill!
