It all began in Italy, in 1985, with a mop. Bruce Kaminstein was vacationing when he stumbled upon and was wowed by the design of a simple mop. He ordered some for his family’s hardware store in New York City, and when the mops sailed off the shelves, Bruce knew he was onto something. In the years since that trip, he built a business by giving everyday housewares a modern makeover, insisting on good designs, quality materials, and superior function.

Bruce’s take on common household sponges got us all sudsed up. His idea to design different sponges for specific household chores makes complete sense. After all, does anyone really want to use the same sponge to clean wine glasses and Fido’s bowl?

Casabella sponges are made from natural cellulose, which is tough when it needs to be and rinses like a dream. The grill sponge is for cleaning indoor grills, broiling pans, and outdoor grills, and the screen sponges are designed for cleaning aluminum or window screens. The wine glass sponge has a slot for cleaning glass rims, and the nail saver cube sponge has scrubby fiber on one side and is tall enough to protect your nails while cleaning. The pet bowl sponge is shaped like a bone — which ensures you won’t want to use it on anything but pet bowls.

Casabella means “beautiful house” in Italian, and it’ll be a cinch to have one with these fun, functional sponges. BTW... Bruce still loves that mop.
