Stressed out? Puffy eyes? Aching shoulders? When a trip to the spa is out of the question, you need do-it-yourself relief. With one of Mette Vangso’s handmade spa pillows, you can inject a bit of luxury into your day and have a mini-spa experience without leaving home.
Mette received an aromatherapy pillow as a gift and realized it was a good idea that could be great with just a few improvements. From her studio in San Francisco she set out to create perfect soothing designs, selecting gorgeous fabrics to wrap organic fillings such as buckwheat, flaxseed and natural herbal flowers. The results are nearly decadent, combining luxury, comfort and healing. Choose the satiny eye-catcher, which is filled with lavender and chamomile, to use as a relaxing, cool compress (just leave it in the freezer when not in use). Or, pick the soft sueded classic pillow or neck hugger, both filled with buckwheat and lavender. You can freeze the classic or neck pillow for cold comfort, or microwave it to produce a fragrant and relaxing heat.

We heard about Mette’s spa pillows from Lisa Borden (she also turned us on to Eco-Me’s green cleaning products). Whether you have muscle soreness or just need a bit of pampering, these pillows are just what the spa ordered for a bit of DIY relaxation.
