The electricity just went out, and you’re searching for a light. What are the odds you have a working flashlight in that cabinet? The NightStar CS2 is charged by shaking, so it’s the flashlight you’ll want on hand, even if it’s been sitting, unused for years. 
You don’t have to worry about dead batteries, because there aren’t any batteries in this flashlight. You just shake it, and the energy generated is converted into electrical energy via a magnet that’s passed back and forth through a coil of wire. Roughly 90 seconds of shaking yields about 20 minutes of illumination.

Last year AIT donated hundreds of NightStar flashlights to the non-profit organization Village of Hope. Their donation allowed both children and grownups to walk safely at night in a village surrounded by forest dangers and no lights.
