It’s not always easy finding the time to squeeze all that walking into a busy day. If there’s one thing that most of us need, it’s more time to fit in physical activity. Just ask Steve Bordley, a busy father of three who came up with an ingenious solution to the work/fitness trade-off: TrekDesk.

The TrekDesk is specially designed at walking height to fit over a standard treadmill. Plus, it’s got all the accoutrements of your typical office desk, so it’s easy to work on a computer or take calls while strolling. Steve Bordley, TrekDesk lest you think crunching through a spreadsheet while on your feet is just for fitness fanatics, Bordley (on the left) and other TrekDeskers have history on their side. Winston Churchill, Ernest Hemingway and Thomas Jefferson all favored the standing desk. Word is, they felt standing at their work kept them keen of mind — and these were some pretty sharp guys.

Bordley himself lost 25 pounds and got rid of nagging back troubles while walking away his workday. Plus, researchers say walking can help lift moods and even improve memory capacity. Now that’s the kind of multitasking we love.
