As pads go, a dorm room is no luxury suite. But for young adults living away from home for the first time, it’s the ultimate place for hanging out, studying, partying and occasionally sleeping. Too bad the bed takes up so much precious square-footage when what dorm dwellers really want is space for entertaining friends. Well, in just 30 seconds they can have it, thanks to the inflatable SlouchBack.
Longtime friends Jeff Seibert (that’s him on the left) and Andrew Goetting thought up the idea for the SlouchBack when they were in school, then came together after college to make it a reality.
Their invention is a portable microsuede couch that inflates automatically in less than 30 seconds, bringing instant comfort and convenience to the dorm room or extra seating to the family room. It’s so much more comfortable than a flimsy folding chair and loads more functional than pillows stacked haphazardly against concrete walls. When deflated, the SlouchBack is easy to tuck away. And, slouchers don’t need to worry about spilling their popcorn or soda — the microsuede covers (available in a handful of cool colors) are easily removable and washable. Just chill out, slouch back and enjoy.
