From Life Comes Art

DNA is the stuff of biomedical miracles and courtroom drama, right? Think again. Your own DNA or a loved one’s (even a pet) can be the subject of a vibrant, contemporary piece of artwork hanging on your living room wall or standing on your mantel.

Friends and co-conspirators Adrian Salamunovic and Nazim Ahmed combined their loves of art, design and science into DNA 11, a company that turns DNA into uniquely personal art. Getting one of these biological landscapes couldn’t be easier. DNA 11 provides a kit for collecting DNA, which requires only a simple swab of the inside of your cheek. Then all you have to do is pick the color, size and frame you’d like. For extra personal touches, you can add a signature to your DNA portrait and, with a new option, isolate genes that identify four human characteristics: brain, hair, love and sport.

Behind the scenes, DNA 11 has contracted with an FDA-certified lab for the genetic work. It then takes your genetic code and creates the artwork to your specifications in a state-of-the-art printing facility at the DNA 11 studios. The process, from swab to delivery, takes from four to six weeks. You can’t get art that’s more authentic or original than this.
