Night Owl is a labor of love for Alan and Jennifer, a pair of designers who used to moonlight together making invitations, logos and letterhead for friends before they jumped into the stationery business full-time. Today it’s a real family affair — Jennifer’s parents moved to Alabama to help with the growing business, and Alan’s dad runs the letterpress.

Many of Night Owl’s cards and journals are made from sustainably harvested yellow birch wood. Yes, wood. The natural grain of the birch veneer makes the perfect backdrop for their hand-pressed graphics, which draw inspiration from Swedish and American folk art. The aesthetic is whimsical, but it also has a modern flair that keeps the designs feeling contemporary. You can send your regards with a folksy owl on a flowering branch, or dash off a thank-you note with a delicate trellis print. The only hard part is choosing which critters and creations to send first.
