Writing on the Walls

Just named to Inc. magazine’s “30 under 30” list of America’s Coolest Young Entrepreneurs, Babson College students John Goscha, Morgan Newman and Jeff Avallon were tossing around business ideas when they began brainstorming about… brainstorming. Wouldn’t it be nice if they weren’t always running out of space on their whiteboard? What if they could just write all over the walls?

That’s how the trio came up with the concept for IdeaPaint, a water-based paint that creates a dry-erase surface anywhere you want one. You can paint a whiteboard on the walls of your home office, or turn a playroom toy box or kitchen cabinet into an instant whiteboard. It’s also great for schools and corporate offices – anywhere you want to express your creativity. IdeaPaint can be applied like chalkboard paint, but you get to skip the dusty mess of chalk. A big part of the development of IdeaPaint was coming up with an environmentally friendly solution. Hitting on the right formula took a few years of chemistry work, but the result is a durable coating that works as well as a porcelain whiteboard and is just a fraction of the cost. Plus, nothing beats being able to write all over the walls without getting into any trouble.
