You don’t have to be a professional athlete to know the pain of weak sunscreen. Whether I’m out for a jog or just chasing my kids around the playground, there’s nothing worse than the sting of sunscreen running into my eyes.
That’s one of the problems Josh Shaw set out to solve when he founded Mission Skincare. He teamed up with a roster of world-class athletes to engineer products that can keep up with the demands of pro athletes and anyone else looking for skincare that fits into an active lifestyle.
Serena Williams, Steve Nash, and Mia Hamm are all part of the team at Mission Skincare (which donates 10% of profits to the athletes’ charities). So is swimming legend Amanda Beard (that’s her with Josh on the right), who told Daily Grommet she got involved because she wants to create products she believes in: “How often do you get an amazing group of athletes together from every sport imaginable to help design and create products that they need themselves? The Mission athletes have created products that will live up the highest performance levels.”
The pro athletes make sure Mission’s products can perform under the most extreme conditions. But don’t sweat it if your workout setting is no more extreme than the backyard or bike trail. I’m glad I don’t have to worry about sunscreen stinging my eyes anymore — just my kids throwing sand in them.
