It's a fun experiment, and you just might decide, as I did, that it's a great idea.
Talk about this Grommet
I'm now washing my baby's clothes exclusively with soapnuts. Really enjoying this product. Have you tried it before? Would you try it? Do tell!

I love these! The bonus, too, is they make the laundry room smell nice, too. My son has VERY sensitive skin so I use only detergents that are fragrance and dye-free. This is an awesome alternative and I love that they take up no space in the cabinet.
Try them. You'll be a believer.

We think that one of the neat things about soapnuts is that they allow the scent of your laundry to be totally customizable! As Jules and Joanne demonstrated so well in the video, you can add your favorite scent directly on the cotton wash bag before you toss it in the wash. Here's another hint: If you prefer a stronger scent, add a few drops of essential oil to a scrap piece of fabric and toss it in the dryer with your clean laundry. (We use a bright red bandanna left over from a pirate birthday party -- SO easy to find later!)

Lisa ... love the idea about the bandanna, but how can you tell when a batch of soapnuts is "used up"? I noticed it says they're good for about 40 loads of laundry but I'm sure I would lose count after a while. Is there a sign I should look for that it's time to switch them?

Hurray for another green product! It seems as time goes on we're circling back to the simpler things in life which is so great.

What a great question, Jeanne! The EASIEST way to tell if your soapnuts are used up is to take them out of the bag while they're still wet from a wash, and squeeze them a little. If you see a honey-like liquid "oozing" out of them, you know they're still good for another use.

I was a skeptic at first, but WOW! These clean well, are small to store and are good for the environment. Right on!

Lisa--I'm delighted the Daily Grommet community got behind Soap Nuts....I am really excited that they clearly endorsed what you are providing; green innovation and a fun experience to boot. It really is kind of miraculous how the Soap Nuts work, speaking as a convert. I now need to stock up!
