Talk about this Grommet
Cleaning with a new twist
Hi Daily Grommet fans -- when it comes to meals, some people love the cooking part. And lots of people love the eating part. But it seems like nobody loves the cleaning part. We were the same way. And that bugged us. Why don't we love cleaning? Turned out for us, it was a lot of things. We didn't like the tools. We didn't like the way they felt. We didn't like the way they looked sitting on the counter. We didn't like what they were made of. So we decided to make some little changes. Nothing big. Just little things. Pretty soon we were getting that lovey feeling when we were doing the dishes too. And a new company was born.
We hope you enjoy learning about Twist today -- and we invite you to give all of our 100% biodegradable products a try. I look forward to reading your comments and am happy to answer your questions. Thanks.

I wish I had taken a few of these to Tuscany last week where a roll of crappy paper towels cost over $3. But even in the States (where a roll of good paper towels cost well over a dollar) saving that pine tree makes this worthwhile. Plus, If the average person uses enough paper towels to kill one pine tree a year, my family must kill a good size grove of trees!! We use tons of paper towels. This sounds like a great grommet idea.

I love this idea. It aggravates me to no end when my kids grab handfuls of paper towels at a time - so wasteful! Can't wait to give these a shot - thanks for discovering them DG!!

This is the best product for granite or stone counter tops. Paper towel and sponges leave streaks and you only get one use with a paper towel. The twist paper towel does not streak and lasts and lasts. I have a great tip for the care of this product, pop the twist paper towel and sponges in the dishwasher and they come out like new. We have been using a lot less paper towels in our house.

These sponges sound like they work and they are good for the environment. You made me think about what happens to a sponge when I throw it away. Hmm.... Biodegradable is always the best way to go.

We gave Twist a test in our home too. The European Sponge #20, is a great substitute for paper towels and does great work for damp clean up. Unlike typical sponges it swerves and swings.. finding it's way into corners and crevices just like a paper towel. We use way too many paper towels in our house so we're adopting the European Sponge.

Sorry about the naughty cat on the counter!! He NEVER goes on the counter, so I was surprised to see that. I guess he wanted to get a look at the Twist!

I have a friend Meena, who is from India. She told me a while back that in India, they would never consider using paper towels to clean... it is just too wasteful and many people can't afford them. She said they use rags which they wash out each night. That made me think about how I clean and what I use to clean. It seems that caring for the environment includes using responsible cleaning products that are pure (no dyes or additives), reusable, easily sanitized and biodegradable at the end of their useful life. I'm all for that, but I don't always want to use rags (I will use them for some jobs). Twist seems to incorporate all these things.

Twist is a good product. Cooks Illustrated review it in the latest issue against the Skoy Cloth and a regular yellow sponge. The top pick was Skoy. My only concern is that Twist is made in China not Europe. That concerns me.

@RogerKlintworth, Thank you for telling us about the Cook's review. We had read the hardcopy magazine review and it seemed that the testing results were quite close. We admire Cook's magazine and are intrigued with the Skoy company and our discovery team will contact them. In our discovery process, we scan the globe looking for Grommets, but in this case, 2 of the sponges were sourced in Mexico and the other 2 in China. Twist did name 2 of the sponges "European", so this could have been confusing. We appreciate your thoughtful comments!
