Talk about this Grommet
Now THAT'S Amore!
What's up everybody! We're pumped that the Daily Grommet is featuring our "It Says Love" shirts today. The company was started when Olivia, my older sister, sent me a drawing of the family playing music in our living room. It was just a simple sketch with stick figures, but it said "This is where I feel most happy and loved." Months later, when Christmas rolled around, I was a college freshman with no money. My only choice was to make something for Olivia, so I redrew Olivia's picture and filled it with color, adding love in different languages all around it. A short week later, Olivia told me to make a logo because we were gonna start putting Love in different languages on T-shirts.

From that point forward, ideas started to pile on top of each other. I made the ambigram logo (it says Love both right-side up and up-side down) and started traveling the world, living in Spain, Korea, and Washington, D.C. Olivia sold all the shirts to family and friends, but everyone kept requesting more languages and ideas. It really showed us how universal love was and how everyone thought about love differently yet shared a common thread.

As we see it, love is the one thing we have always had in common, from the beginning of time. While we may express it in myriad ways, love is the fuel that drives all of us. That's why we offer so many different languages for our shirts, as well as so many different designs- each filled with history, culture, and stories.

Zamforia is a word that I yelled out, and it's used to describe the sensation when being alive turns into feeling alive. Like Love, it's the thread of life.

We hope you enjoy checking out our "It Says Love" shirts, and we look forward to reading your comments and answering your questions.

Speaking from experience, this is a great boy's graduation gift. And..even if you don't get to see the whole video, check out the part at 1:06 minutes into it when Jonathan shows how the shirts are packaged....in a silver language-themed potato chip bag. That is so unique and helps to make a gift that much more special. My three sons--ages 14 to 20--would be really charmed by that packaging, as well as the shirt designs. Not sappy, just cool and clever and kind of like an "insider" thing.

Jonathan, I love the passion and the vibe of your company! Great shirts! And Jeanne thanks for bringing me on the new bridge with you...we left Massachusetts when the Big Dig was a Big Mess. We absolutely have to come back to see the end result AND to sip some lemonade with you guys on that wonderful Daily Grommet front porch!

Inside each bag will come not only your shirt but also various stickers, information about the shirts, language pronunciation, and even CDs of local bands or awesome mix CDs we'll make for you. Even beyond our clever logo and fun packaging please remember that each shirt has it's own identity. Each comes with a story and message or has references to history and culture. In the near future, I'lll be having an video explanation of each shirt to make it easier to understand whats going on. Ask any questions you want about anything for now... Love your shirts, but I'm a big gal. There are many of us out there. Is there any hope for a 4x or even a 5x shirt? Hanes makes them.

Hey Fran, no sorry we don't make sizes that big- the biggest we go is 3XL guys' shirts. All our shirts are printed on American Apparel shirts which are the best quality we can get. All shirts are SUPER soft, 100% organic cotton, thus they will shrink about a half a size if machine dried. In general we tell people, especially girls to cut up the shirt, make it funky, and make it their own. You can check our pictures to see how. So Fran, you can get a shirt, cut out the design and sew it on a shirt/garment of your pleasing, like cut out the Polish eagle and sew it on the back of a cool jacket or vest. I draw and design all the shirts so the image itself is a work of art that you can use to your liking.

I love these shirts! I sent one to my sister who lives away and she could not get over how the "personal note" was inside the sealed bag. She knew by the design, the packaging and the personalization that this was something really special and different. Thanks, Jonathan. I will be back for more of these!

I got the Ethiopian one, and I love it. It has a lot of metallic-looking stuff on it, and more than one person said, well, that'll be destroyed when you wash it. The answer is that it goes through the normal laundry with absolutely no problem; it looks as good as when it arrived! I am wearing it now -- it's so cool!
