Wear these globe-a-licious bracelets and you’ll not only look good, you’ll feel good too! Created by South African designer Paula Goosen, they’re lovingly crafted by Zulu women from the Ndwedwe rural community, who receive a Fair Trade wage for their work. ( as a result have improved the quality of their lives in this remote part of the continent.)
The “bead ladies”—as they’re affectionately known—imbue these beautiful bracelets with Zulu culture and tradition. The vibrant colors represent clan origins, gender and status.
We found these lovelies via Ella Georgia Jewellery, a British company run by Sian Foster, who is as passionate about alleviating poverty as she is about selling pretty things.
Of course, there’s no limit to how many orbs can adorn your wrist. So treat yourself to one or more of the three shiny, happy color combos: pinks/greens (“Watermelon”), blues/reds (“Burgundy”), and blues/greens (“Serenity”). We hope they catch your eye, and stir your conscience.
